Skiing has always been one of my favorite things to do. I started skiing when I was 4, and usually went skiing 2 weeks per year. Everything really got started though when I discovered freestyle skiing. The adrenaline rush and the concentration needed to land tricks really got me hooked, and suddenly 1 or 2 weeks per year was not enough anymore. Unfortunately due to school and college I could not get much more time off to go the Alps, so I decided that I had to practice my sport indoors!
Indoor skiing certainly has is shortcomings, however it also has a positive side. The short slopes mean that you have to become creative in order not to get bored, and are also a perfect place to perfect your skills.
Indoor might also be the place where I am happiest to wear my Xion gear, the high quality protection really helps prevent injuries on the super icey indoor slopes.
Unfortunately indoor skiing still does not give the same feeling as freeriding; the feeling of outdoor freedom. Therefore I still go the mountains for at least a few weeks in between college each year, trying to bring my freestyle skills to the backcountry.
Finally, when I am not skiing I enjoy surfing, diving, riding motorcycles and other sports!
